Whooping cough cases have doubled from 2010 to 2011, with more than 1,700 cases. Parents and close family are the source of infection for more than 70% of infants with whooping cough. All children under the age of twelve years are funded for the whooping cough vaccine.  A vaccine is also available for adults  -  a charge applies.
