Crawford Medical’s roving doctor, Dr Anna-Marie O’Mahony is back at the practice for 2017.
Anna-Marie spent six months at Crawford Medical early in 2016 and temporarily left to complete a six-month dermatology registrar course at Auckland Hospital.
She says she returned to Crawford Medical because it is a great workplace and Howick Village is a nice place with a lot of charm.
When she came to New Zealand her plan was to work here for three months but she loved her work and took on another job where she met her Kiwi fiancé.
Anna-Marie has practiced medicine in several places throughout New Zealand as well as her home country, Ireland.
She has experience in obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, dermatology and general practice medicine.
Consequently, Anna-Marie enjoys consulting with patients in her areas of expertise.
“It’s very difficult for people to access dermatology within the public health service and GPs often deal with skin conditions,” says Anna-Marie.
She is interested in women’s health because it has a big impact on the well-being of the total family.
Currently, Anna-Marie is studying a certificate in women’s health at University of Auckland, which takes up most of her out-of-office time.
If she does have a free moment, she attends beginner tennis lessons at Cockle Bay Tennis Club and loves cooking and baking at home.
