Pharmacy Service for  Our Patients

Crawford Medical Centre has a Pharmacy onsite for your convenience.

The pharmacy's prime function will be to dispense for pharmaceuticals, and a wide range of medicines, creams, lotions and first aid requirements will also be available, as well as a delivery service direct to your door.

Pharmacists Mark Neill and John Berrill will operate the dispensary, which will be open from 8.30-6.30pm weekdays and from 9.00am until 1.00pm on Saturdays.

New Patients
We invite all new patients to come in for a brief consultation with the nurse prior to their first consultation with the Doctor. The purpose of this is to collect the information required to continue your medical care, in readiness for the Doctor. It is also an opportunity to visit the Centre and learn of its many facilities and to meet the other team members.

 
Family Planning
Our doctors are happy to discuss appropriate family planning options with you and/or your partner. Simply make an appointment with your own doctor.

Pregnancy and Maternity Care
None of our doctors are lead maternity care givers but work with our visiting Midwife.

 Catherine Overfield is our current visiting Midwife.  She can be contacted on 027 277 3213
 

Minor Surgery
A number of minor operations are performed at the surgery, including vasectomies. We have an air-conditioned sterile operating theatre and our instruments and theatre gowns are autoclaved to guarantee sterility. Ask your doctor about having your minor surgery at Crawford Medical Centre. Most insurance policies will cover the costs.
 

  EAR SUCTION CLINIC

Crawford Medical Centre is offering a new service - ear suctioning.    Carol Lazarus will be tending to your ear concerns at Crawford Medical Centre.  She will be offering a unique ear wax removal service using a microscope and low-pressure suction technology to remove wax build-up from the ear canal.   Carol is highly qualified in community and ear health nursing and is available by appointment for all child and adult ear suctioning and ear related problems.

Dietitian Services

Sandra van Lill NZRD runs a clinic on Thursdays between  4pm - 7pm or other times by arrangement. This service is available on a one-to-one consultancy.  Please call her on 027 474 2932 or Crawford Medical Centre for an appointment.


 

 Cervical Smear Tests
We recommend a cervical smear for every women three yearly, or more frequently if necessary. Reminder letters are sent to our registered patients through our comprehensive recall system. This can be done as your regular appointment with your doctor.

Crawford Medical Centre can also offer appointments with qualified nurses to have their smears taken. Appointments can be made weekdays - please call for an appointment.

   

Well Child Checks

 "Well Child" consultations with the doctor are available to your child up to the age of six years. All "Well Child" consultations are free of charge.

At Crawford Medical Centre, we offer a comprehensive series of check-ups for your child. We look carefully at your child's development and growth, do a physical examination, discuss any of your concerns and offer advice on child safety and nutrition.  Please ask at the Medical Centre for further information.

 

 Associated Hearing.

Associated Hearing Audiometrists attend Crawford Medical Centre for twice monthly clinics. These are on the second and fourth Wednesday morning of each month.

They offer, FREE hearing test and consultation, FREE 30 day trial of hearing aids, Insurance, quotes, WINZ quotes, repair quotes, and they do on site minor repair.

They are also an ACC registered provider.

Eldercare Service Support
 

Eldercare is a special health service provided by the doctors of EastHealth Services Ltd for older people living in  the Howick, Pakuranga, Beachlands and Maraetai Areas.

Eldercare  coordinates the community health services you receive so you are able to live at home in safety with support.

Eldercare is linked to your family doctor and practice nurse, the community and hospital services at Middlemore Hospital  and the organisations in the community which care for the older people.

Our Coordinator is a Registered Nurse  with experience in caring for older people in the community and in hospital.

Eldercare has contact with services and organisations for older people including:

Help in the Home:

      • Volunteer visitors

Transportation:

  • Senior Citizens Identification card
  • Total Mobility Scheme (taxi chits)
  • Mobility Parking  Permit Scheme

 Men`s Health Profile

Men's Health Profile is a programme specifically designed with your health in mind.

We offer you the opportunity to attend our Clinic for a complete General Medical Assesment.

This may include: 

  • Full physical examination
  • Laboratory testing for cholesterol, PSA Score (if over 50). Diabetes and other health concerns.
  • Lung function testing
  • ECG   (Cardiology  test)
  • CVRA (Cardiovascular Risk Assessment)
  • You may wish to have a comprehensive skin check.

Health Assessment:    Your Health Profile will provide you with a comprehensive health risk strategy. This will involve a comprehensive clinical assessment, including where you need to focus  your preventative efforts.

Disease Management:  If, upon assessment, you are found to have a disease risk, (e.g. heart disease or diabetes) we can provide information and support to help you manage your own health. This ensures better health and clinical management.

Emotional Wellbeing: Stress, emotional or lifestyle issues can have a significant effect on your health and wellbeing. Identifying and managing these risks are an important part of managing your total health.

 Influenza Clinic and Information

Flu Clinics: Crawford Medical Centre patients are contacted by mail in February/March to notify them of organised flu clinics.

Days and times are coordinated with availability of the vaccines, although appointments can be made outside these times.

There is also a service of corporate flu clinics. Professionals from the Practice will visit your premises and administer flu vaccines to your staff at time to suit you.
