Dial 111 For Emergencies

Immunisations

Childhood
Routine immunisations are given from the age of six weeks. This is a free service and reminder letters are sent to parents/guardians registered as patients of the Centre. Appointments are necessary, and we recommend patients talk to our Practice Nurses if they have any queries about immunisation.

Tetanus
Tetanus prevention injections are recommended.
After an initial course of three immunisations and a booster five years later, our doctors recommend a booster shot every ten years.
However, if you have a wound where contamination is a risk, we recommended that you have a tetanus injection.

Rubella
Women who are planning a pregnancy should first check they are immune to rubella.
Please discuss this with your doctor.

Influenza
We advise vaccination against influenza during March and April for the elderly and those suffering from chronic lung disease, chronic heart disease, chronic kidney disease and diabetes.
We hold "flu vaccine" clinics at Crawford Medical Centre at times advertised locally.  Many patients will qualify for a free flu vaccine, including those over 65yrs. and anyone with chronic illness. Although free until the end of June, we suggest you have your vaccine before the onset of winter.
